Description:
The next edition of the MALTA CUP, which has become an annual event on the World Snooker calendar, will be held between the 4th and the 10th February 2008!
The tournament will be played at the Hilton Conference Centre. Twenty players are being invited to participate in the Malta Cup, the official Top 16, 2 wild cards chosen by World Snooker, and 2 by Snooker Promotions.
The players will be divided into 4 groups of 5 players each, with the group winners going through to the semi finals. The group matches will be played on 2 tables between the 4th and the 8th February, the semi finals will be played on Saturday 9th and the final on Sunday 10th. All group matches will be played over 6 frames (all to be played), the semi finals will be best of 11 frames, and the final will be played over 2 sessions, best of 17 frames. Both the semi finals and final will be played in a 1 table setup.
The draw of the Malta Cup will be made at the World Snooker offices and will be known by the 30th November.
