except that i hope that the world becomes more environmentally aware , so that future generations have a planet to live on.

So, very correctly, you are saying that the world is one big, common entity, full of human beings who are not very dissimilar from each other, so we have better things to do than worry about this Superpower thing.
But, realpolitik is very much alive, and hence we cannot afford to ignore this very real thing; after all, I can see this jostling between nations continuing for some time to come...........

I want to say this without offense. please take this as a humble question. Do you know much about Al Gore other than his Political platform that he puts before the world and his movie An Inconvenient Truth? The reason I ask is I have my doubts about his love of the earth. To be blunt from what I can see he is a bit of a hypocrite. I am struggling with all politicians in general as it seems not one is truly concerned with real issues and getting things done. They seem to only push their agenda for their own gain. Guess I am jaded. PLease again Siddharth I mean no disrespect.

It is my nature to be polite...until i know my lines...thanks for being forthright...I will know next time that you have thickskin and can take a blunt comment. As for india I too only know what I read but by what I read I can see you too have problems with your politicians

I think in terms of what a superpower means by definition yes America is the only one true superpower. Things have changed though and we see a global community emerging and we see a need to change from domination to working as one to maintain our planet and to protect each countries individuality. I for one love diversity. I love different cultures. There are only one a few things I dont care for and they are cowardice and evil. If you hate, if you kill, if you show little regard for human life then I am your worst enemy.
