So often we zoom through each day, not taking the time to notice many of the people and things surrounding us.
What a terrible way to live! It's fine for a few days but, every day, what a waste!
Take time to walk around a flower garden, to walk along a beach, or even to play in the snow. Pick up the phone and call a friend in need of a loving word or listening ear.
You'll feel fresher and your outlook will be brighter, and you'll have something, or someone, else to be thankful for.

Yes, and a funny thing happens - we begin to see what the really important things in life are! Sometimes we all need a little reminder of what these things are. :)

Norma, i did not got your post correctly.
if ife has a specific way of getting our attention, it is not same for everybody.
I agree with you, i won't notice lot of people or lot of things wurrounding me. But why i have to notice? Is there something called useless knowledge? what i am afraid of is, this conscious noticing that will just make me into false assumptions. identifying false patterns. i am just noticing things from noticing. It is just like the conscious meditation.
I don't think, living this way is waste. or it all what we call productivity.
You have given some examples. Yes it may refresh you. Or someother patterns may refresh me. So we all have to prioritize things. and we all are prioritizing things.

Sebin...allow me to explain...and I understand your position.
However, when writing this, I was thinking of the people surrounding us most of the time, like out families and friends. Too often, we are guilty of doing our own things while neglecting those we claim to love, and who love us and crave our time and attention.
Also, there are times we see people who are hungry, freezing from the cold, or who are in need in other areas but we seem to be blind to their plights. We are often too involved in our own lives to take action towards helping the poor and needy as much as we are able.
And, quite often, we become so engrossed in our problems that we tend to murmur and complain instead of spending as much time as we ought to, in counting our blessings.
I hope this helps to clarify things for you, as to what I was thinking when I wrote the post. :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Norma, I can only agree with you ;-) we do need to pay more attention to other people in general and show them the respect everyone deserve, the respect we give them by giving them our time and be there for them in the moment even if we sometimes feel we have a little of it in our daily lives . That is a way of showing that you care. I usually say that the shortest distance between people is a smile ;-)
Lots of people are endeed just complaining all the time and thats deffinately not the way to get a positive life.
And even if you have a troubblesome life, there will always be a sunny day to watch the nice flowers for instance ;-)

Laila,
Even our worst days can be enjoyed more by taking the time to appreciate all of our blessings. Sometimes when I feel exhausted and wish I could have a couple of hours to myself, I thank God for my life instead. Despite how desperate I may feel to get a few hours to myself, there are so many people who can't have kids - who don't have families to spend time with - and it helps me get focused on what's really important.
One thing I realized several years ago is that I can always write, read a book, go on a book tour, and get several hours to myself after the kids have grown, and formed families of their own. Meanwhile, I strive to enjoy as much time with them as I possibly can because I know, when they move on in life, the personal time I so desperately craved will be filled with hours of loneliness instead.

I agree very much with the opening post. We like to get away from the city as often as we can; we love to be out in the mountains and down in the valleys, where the wildlife is active and where you can smell the aliveness of the earth. :)

I live in Nunavut, Canada, and am far from any southern cities, I assure you. However, the land is flat up here and I'm looking forward to seeing trees and mountains within the next couple of weeks, not to mention enjoying Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton. I feel refreshed just at the thought.
