I just bought the Canon EOS 400D after having an Olympus E500 for a short while. The Olympus was good but the focusing manually really let it down badly. It was great value which is why I got it in the first place but I should have waiting to spend the extra on the 400D.
I spend my time making photos for microstock as you can see at my web site spondicious.com and I also sell direct with my AppleStudio site. I am only begining with the microstock but I am pleased to report more than 30 sales despite a small portfolio with the wrong pictures in it. Good pictures but not the best sellers.
Planning to improve the portfolio during this winter with lots more shot with people in them.
The Pictures that sell the best are the ones showing a concept especially concerning business. You know - something like a handsome person showing something being done on a computer or a business man pictured climbing a mountain.
I have had sales of shots of food, grafitti, landscapes and boats. I use the Spondicious photography site to document my progress with microstock.
I just love blogging. I make video and audio podcasts about other topics like trading on forex and Betfair, showing how to use software like BetIE which I use when trading on Betfair. My wizardgold blog at http://wizardgold.com/wordpress is for that.
I digressed a little there but photography is what stirs my tea, I get quite passionate about making images. I suppose it follow from my having been a teacher of art in days gone by. I won my first photographic competition when I was ten with an Instamatic and pictures of geese at the Wilfowl Trust, Slimbridge, Gloucestershire, England. There has been a lot of clicks since then.
If anyone wants help to set up a web site using Joomla and a shopping cart please ask me.
Now I really like getting to the nitty gritty of making images with my photos in Photoshop. The Orton Effect is a favourite and I have just been trying to make some with a Dave Hill effect. Some success but I think there is more to that one than can be achieved using just one photo and some filters in PS.
My other recommendation to all photographers is the web site about strobe lighting called Stobist. You will learn loads by following the Lighting 102 course which is in progress now.
All the best to fellow Canon photographers
