No way, You cannot install XP from pendrive.
The reason is that only basic useful system files and drivers such as keyboard, hard disk, cd rom driver files will be installed first before thew new OS is installed. The driver files of USB are not installed at the starting. So USB Drive will not be identified.

hii... the advantages of linux over windows are many.
1) Normally u have to run the driver cd after installing windows from the windows setup disk. But linux doesn't need running the driver cd after u install it frm the dvd
2) Linux is a freeware and can be ordered via net. The best of them is teh mandriva 2008( the latest version of linux.) Well, u can get mandriva in a usb drive also for installation. Windows needs registration
3) There are many utilities contained in Linux itself, which can be installed from the linux setup dvd. For eg: u can have programming utilities like openoffice writer( a built in s/w of linux which can be used for web page creation), built in cd burner, audio and video players, java, cpp, c, php, c# editors all in 1 package! But u have to install them separately in case of windows
