Hi everyone, i would like to know if the language is difficult to learn or not? i've never been to Lithuania before as i previously mentioned but the one i love lives there and i still haven't met her in real life but im thinking of going to Lithuania next time im off with my university classes :)
I would also appreciate it if any of u could post like short sentences in Lithuanian with their translation in English :) just like the basic stuff u knwo like how r u and stuff like that. Thx alot anyways :)
basically, its HARD! ive been trying for over a year now...its no good writing it unless you can speak it and actually be about say the letters properly and even be understood properly...well good luck, you'll need it.
It's so difficult for me though cause i've known her for about more than 3 years now and we've been on a relation for about 2 years as well and we havent been together in real life its so difficult im losing it!! i love her so much but i dont know if i can trust her as well im really lost!! i did a dumb thing today with sending her an sms at 4am just to tell her how im thinking about her and everything and i made her wake up! i really hate myself now! why am i not close to her? and she has to study for 9 years or so to be a doctor!! i'm not giving up on her though she is my first and if she is honest, i wouldnt mind her being my last as well!!
there're few reasons..:) first.. i was always interested in turkey, in middle asia countries.. lots of cultural things - music, dances, traditions, way of thinking, impressive nature are very close to me.. and Turkey is unique with its western way of thinking and still saving lots of exotic..:) hard to explain.. but from the very first time i went to Turkey i felt myself at home there.. like in no any other country i've visited...
another reason is.. my special person there...:) if we want to be together somebody has to move.. so i prefer to move instead of him moving to here...:) simple..:) so.. if everything goes right i intend to stay there..:)

aha, I understand and the first thought that came into my mind was about that special person.. I have the same situation and you know every experience and common situations makes you do conclusions about how to act, think about somth more serious or not and etc, so I asked you about that just because I'm interested in such relationships: Lithuanian with Turk. Coz there are a lot of reasons for example religion, traditions that can make some problems...
or even at all is it possible... there are a lot of myths about turks, I don't want to discriminate, coz I am not such person, and I really don't do that, I mentioned this thing just because of my family.. exactly my father, he is very attitude towards that I mean against my communication with turk...
was it a request for advice..? :) well.. if so.. you are very young yet.. so i can understand ur father.. very often parents are right and only listening to them and hearing then can lead to right discussions and right decissions..
talking about relations - they might last.. why not..? i've also heard lots of legends about turks.. :))) turks themselves tell stories about the same turks :)) some are true.. some are not.. :)) but there're also lots of legends about lithuanians too.. :)) what i want to say is that u have to know the current person - his way of thinking.. his values, way of life.. and then decide whether it is suitable for u or not.. me for example.. i feel myself much better and more free with turkish guy than with lots of lithuanian guys.. :) and differencies are not the problem itself.. problem is when we do not admit these differencies and try to make other person just like us ourselves.. but if u both in couple understand that u r different.. and learn to know, to respect each other and find compromises when neccessary.. then cultural, religious and other differencies is not a big problem..
but first.. u still need to finish studies, i think.. discover bit by bit urself as well as that person.. to know urself first - what u want to do u in ur life .. and whether that person is the one who could help u in ur life journey.. whether u r the one who can support him in his way of life..
thank you for understanding:) Yes, you are right, I understand everything what you mean and first of all I'm really thinking about my studies, and just then about relationship, I understand that time is needful for everything and it will show us if it is what we are thinking or not..
and I also feel more free with turkish guy then with lithuanians, but this is not so common to me, I mean I didn't have a lot of relationships and I can't do such big conclusions in this way, but the difference exists.. I just don't know how should I behave, it's already a year when we are communicating and .. there was so much everything we a lived together and we want to see each other in reality this summer.. I want that also so much, but I still don't know if I would do right if I would accept his suggestion to come to me..
this might would only help us to understand better what we feel for each other.. maybe I won't like him at all.. who knows, or maybe I will like him even more, and the same from his side..
:) i see u r smart girl :) with suggestions be carefull..:) remember.. u don't know him very well.. maybe he is really good guy.. but still risk remains - internet is internet..:) believe me i know what i am telling..:))) and u r too young to take that risk..:) well, i was lucky, i took risk and it was right decission.. but also bad things sometimes happen.. if u want to see him - ok, get a trip, take a friend with u.. he might come and stay in the same hotel or near by.. spend some time together at least.. and u will see..
and if u like him even more.. eeemm.. people are wrong who tell that distance separate.. for me on the contrary - we haven't seen each other for 9 months... and i still need him the same, still miss him the same.. also he does.. and we both live with a hope to meet one day again..:)
so what i can say..? be smart and time solves out many problems..:)
:) thank you for that:) yes, I know, I don't know him very well, but and not so little.. but I can't deny the fact that internet is internet..:) I really know what it's advantages and disadvantages.. and mostly of the contacts I meet in here..I really can say that lot's of them show their real face very soon, I'm trying to get to know the person's intentions..
I know that I am too young for making big decisions I know that I need more experience and so on, but as you say every one must risk in life, I imagine life as a lottery sometimes: sometimes you can win and sometimes you can loose, so the same with those contacts.. that person was not like all others.. he appeared very unexpectedly and I was very careful at first with such things as feelings are.. and little by little I noticed that it's really not the same:))
Yes, I accept your opinion, that distance doesn't separate..I think that it makes the relationship even stronger:) I hope I'll make the right decisions and thank you very much for exchanging your thoughts about that with me:))
hey.. no thanks really needed..:) but u r welcome..:) in any case as i said i see u r smart girl and i am sure that u will find the best way out.. so i can only wish u good luck.. patience.. and may all ur dreams come true !!!
hey dont believe everything about Turkey some of people dont like turkish coz of bein moslem but we are friendly and real dont worry u come to turkey and u learn our culture urself ok )
I know that, really, but we all aren't the same, there are all kind of people everywhere, so we can't say that all of them are good, bad, or somehow other.. But thanks for expressing your opinion doesn't matter that you are from Turkey.
I think it will be pretty hard to learn lithuanian language, but it is possible :) i am lithuanian girl, and many people from our country moves here to lithuania. And after one, or two years some even can speak with few mistakes but they can chat with each other ;)
The most popular word to say hi is "labas" . It can be said informally to anyone.
Another popular informal way of saying hello is "sveikas, sveika, sveiki and sveikos". These words are dependant on gender and number. Sveikas is said to one male person, whereas sveika is a greeting to one female. Sveiki is said to more than one male, and sveikos is used to greet more than one female. If the group is mixed (males and females), you have to use sveiki.
When addressing people you don't know, older people or persons of authority (teachers, etc), you must use one of the following phrases depending on daytime:
Labas rytas or labą rytą in the morning. Laba diena or labą dieną in the afternoon. Labas vakaras or labą vakarą in the evening.
The most popular words to say goodbye are "iki" and "ate". Other words include "sudiev, sudie, viso, viso gero, viso labo and kol kas". In formal situations it's best to say sudie, viso gero or iki.
ačiū, dėkui - thank you (to strenghen your thanks, add labai(very much) in front)
prašau, prašom - please(when you plaese smth)
atsiprašau, atleisk, dovanok - sorry, forgive me
kaip sekasi? - how are you?
gerai - good, ok
nėra už ką - not at all or you are wellcome as a response to thank you
taip - yes
ne - no
Lithuanian employs a modified Roman script. It is comprised of 32 letters. The collation order presents one surprise: "Y" is moved to occur between I Ogonek (Į) and J.
A Ą B C Č D E Ę Ė F G H I Į Y J K L M N O P R S Š T U Ų Ū V Z Ž
a ą b c č d e ę ė f g h i į y j k l m n o p r s š t u ų ū v z ž
Acute, grave, and macron/tilde accents can be used to mark stress and vowel length. However, these are generally not written, except in dictionaries and where needed for clarity. In addition, the following digraphs are used, but are treated as sequences of two letters for collation purposes. The "Ch" digraph represents a velar fricative, while the others are straightforward compositions of their component letters.
Ch Dz Dž Ie Uo
ch dz dž ie uo

Vowels A, E and O can be either short or long. At first, you will not be able to say which A, E and O are long and which are short.
However the nasal vowels Ą, Ę, Į, and Ų are always long, so you will not have doubts about them. Have in mind that the nasal vowels are not pronounced through the nose. They only mean a long vowel.
Vowel I is a short vowel, whereas Y is long.
Vowel U is a short vowel, whereas Ū is long.
A very important thing to know is that the letter i means a softening vowel. We will talk about it in the next lesson.
Wow! I guess Lithuanian is medieval language that exists such a long time ago. Tha's why it's so complicated. I wish to learn it someday. I love challengin' language now I found one! hehe
Howdy Miss Leva! Since I'm from Harbin, Manchuria. So, I understand lotsa Chinese languages, dialects and culture as well as the Siberians or far-north. I know Mandarin (official language of China), Cantonese (Official language of Hong Kong), Fujian (Common language of Taiwan and Fujian Province). I've been to Singapore and Malaysia, and I learnt Malay (National language of Singapore). Othan than these, I learnt a few simple Japanese, Korean, Tamil, Mongolian, Uyghur, Yakutian, Russian, French, and Spanish. To make a conclusion, I love English the most and it could be my best language.
