Top 10 Reasons for Dating a Filipina Girl

Many Western men choose to build a relationship with a Filipina girl. Some even choose to marry a Filipina. But what makes Filipino women so wanted?
1. Filipina girls are renowned for their beauty.
They surely stand out among Asian women in terms of charm and femininity. If you think other way you probably have never seen Angela Perez Baraquio – the first Asian American and Filipino American who was crowned Miss America 2001 and Miss Hawaii.
2. Filipino girls are a delight to be around because of their disposition and personality.
Since birth Filipinas are raised in a special sense of honor called Delikadesa (or Delicadeza). Delicadeza is a Spanish term which when translated in English means daintiness. It is defined as a sense of propriety, an act of being refined or delicate in tastes and manners. It is Delikadesa what gives Filipino women such admirable qualities and distinguish them from Western ladies. You will never find a proper Filipina bring shame onto herself and her family by lying, cheating, stealing, running around with different men or flunking out of school. It is one of the meanings of Delikadesa – pride in doing the right thing.
3. Filipinas are understanding, patient and composed.
Most Filipina girls would never engage in a quarrel or a loud argument simply because this wouldn’t suit a real Lady. They are taught to speak politely, with a gentle tone of voice. Arguing is just not acceptable, along with public criticism. This soft spoken, quiet and understanding nature of the Filipina Ladies is the desired trait that Filipinas strive towards.
4. Filipina girls are generous and naturally caring and supportive.
The common spirit of survival has united the Filipinos for centuries making generosity and loyalty towards family a time-honored tradition. The caring and supportive nature of the Filipinas is apparent in the fact that there are no booming businesses for retirement homes or orphanages in the Philippines – they would never abandon a child or a member of the family in need.
5. Filipina girls believe in a one-man one-woman relationship.
Since there is no "absolute divorce" in the Philippines, Filipinas are raised in a high regard for the sanctity of marriage and consider it a life long commitment. Some, in fact many who marry these Filipina beauties, swear they make the best wives in the world – loyal, loving and faithful past death.
6. Filipina women put family first before money.
Faithfulness to the family is a tradition that is characteristic of the Filipino society. To the Filipina, family will always remain a great priority. Filipino women, whom many would consider as coming from a relatively poor country, view the close loving bonds of their family as their wealth. They are more willing to sacrifice career than a family.
7. Filipinas are excellent home keepers.
Filipino ladies equate domestic responsibility with being a good wife – their home is a great source of pride for them and they do their best to create a warm and loving environment for their family. For the Filipina even yelling at home would mean de-facing her home so you will probably never find a Filipina woman screaming or breaking dishes.
8. Filipinas are well educated.
The Philippine culture attaches great importance to college education. Pride in accomplishment at school is instilled in Filipinas since their childhood and female college enrollment even exceeds that of the male. This affects the social positions too. Unlike other Asian countries where women tend to be in more subservient positions, the Philippines businesses are more accepting of women performing business. This is apparent with the current Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo – the second Philippine woman to hold this esteemed position.
9. Filipino girls are religious.
The Philippines is predominantly Roman Catholic (the only Christian nation in the Far East) and it is common amongst Philippine families to raise their children in the church. So don’t be surprised if your Filipina girl is more devoted to her religion than you are to yours.
10. Filipina-American marriages are more successful than American-American marriages.
An interesting fact is that according to the statistics Filipina-American marriages arranged through dating services have a lower divorce rate (about 20%) than the standard American- American marriage (about 40%). Still, the statistics may vary according to which source you use.
Of course I have made some generalizations here but basically this should have answered your question why so many men prefer a Filipina girl for dating. If you too decide to give it a try and date a Filipina, I wish you luck – who knows, you might find the girl you’ve been looking for.

Mostly true and to the point as a filipina myself I have good understanding of the filipino ways. I can tell you this, I myself married to an american for almost 12 years, i know marriage is a lot of work, it has ups & downs but I havent given up our relationship because thats the way we brought up to this world because we made a vow for better & for worse. Its just my opinion.

This would explain my fascination with the Filipinas. Now the question is why aren't there more Filipinas in America?

First, I must apologize to all Filipino women who are going to read my response to this forum as for I am a very realistic person.

Jon, as for the topic, I don't think you did your research very well.

No. 1. Not all Filipino women are beautiful. I hate generalizing and racial profiling. No offense to anyone, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Americans standard of beauty vs Filipino standard of beauty, I doubt many Filipinos find Angela Perez Baraquio attractive while Americans find here very beautiful. Filipino standards for beauty, small women, very light skin, very round chubby face, and looks very young. I, myself am not considered very pretty in the Philippines. I was made fun of for having high cheek bones, no round face, my skin darkens easily, not attractive there. I have wide hips and shoulders, and do not have a young teenagers frame. My hair haws natural highlights, totally black hair is desirable there. When I look back through magazines at people I used to think were pretty or attractive, now, I change my mind.

No. 2. You are correct on your second comment there, over a hundred years ago with a richer families. Concept is nice but westernization destroyed that ideal just like they did in Japan around 1870's.

No.3. Sounds really nice but i haven't really met these ladies you are talking about. Maybe my grandmother might have known them.

No. 4. Your next comment about Philippine world sounds beautiful and I'm sure all the homeless old people and children that walk the streets of Manila would love to meet this people. Not trying to be mean or anything, but I would love it if your view was real and I could live there. If I had the time machine, I'd go there a hundred years ago. if westernization hadn't occurred, the Philippines would have been a better place.

No. 5. Tell all the illegitimate children in the Philippines Mom and Dad forgot all about the rules. Loyaty varies from person to person. Some people would never cheat, some people do.

No.6. Whether here or there, poor people treat poor people like family. When the income level is different, greed and pride seemed to infect family, destroying their common bonds and relationships.

No. 7. Yeah, right!

No. 8. On this point, you are correct. The Philippine education system overall is one of the bests in the world. the only problem is that people with Master's degree can't find a job. Many nannies and housekeepers in Japan have master's degrees to achieve that higher income than can be at home.

No. 9. True...Most people tend church. The main problem is the same as it is in America. It doesn't do much good to read the instruction manual and ignore the instructions. Being a good Christian has nothing to do with tending church. It has to do with following the teachings of the bible.

No. 10. So according to your statistics, obviously, all divorces are caused by the American Males flaws and Filipino women are the victims always.

By the way, I am Filipino. No offense to anyone, the reason more marriages do not end to divorce is not because the Filipina, its because the type of man who chose her. Average male that marries a Filipina is usually patient, understanding, does not like to fight, and will give in to try and make things work. When dating/marrying, someone from the different culture, it takes a long time. Most aggressive males are not willing to invest their time in a relationship that is complicated. Most males go for the easy price. My friend's husband jokes, he traveled 10,000 miles to kiss a girl on the cheek. Four months later, he flew 10,000 miles to kiss her on the lips. Not many Americans are willing to date a girl for a year to get 2 kisses.

Any relationship, if 2 people are honest and sincere, and truly care about the other is a good bet. Any relationship based on deception and falls understanding is doomed to fail. Every real relationship has good times and bad times and is full of sacrifice from both people. People who are selfish, ultimately divorce.

Thank you for reading my comments. I don't mean to offend anyone but people should not stereotype any group of people solely based on race, creed, gender, or nationality. Have a nice day.

No offense but as I understand things, the stupid (buraot) ones here must be you. I'm not afraid to fight, I don't back down, I'm quite intelligent, hard-working, but try to understand every side of the situation before I utter "buraot" opinions and try to make myself seems superior to whom I'm talking to. I agree somewhat with some of your comments and couldn't see how you may have been offended by my earlier writings. But then again, at 23, you have a long way to go to consider yourself the meanest freak. At 23, I've got 9 more years of being a bitch to my credit. So if you wanna argue your points, try to stare down a kid, it doesn't work with us adults. I would speak Tagalog but not everyone in this group could read what I'm saying since they teach English in Philippines, why don't you go back to school and educate yourself on how to read English if you're having so much trouble reading on this site. If you have trouble understanding, I would be glad to translate it for you. I'm not ashamed of being Filipino, I'm not ashamed of being American. I am proud however to be a member of the human race and try hard to identify myself with my words and deeds instead of what piece of ground I'm standing on. If it makes you feel any better, I have met many people from around the world, doesn't matter rich or poor or what country they are from or were from now, some are fine people and some are complete asses/idiots. If you think I'm being uppity because I'm speaking English or living in the US, you're wrong, when I lived in Philippines, I dislike ignorant asses there just as much as I dislike ignorant asses here. I haven't changed, only the faces of the ignorant asses around me. When I lived in Philippines, I met and was friends with many fine upstanding people. And when I moved here, I surrounded myself with the same type of friends. Realistically, should race be important to anyone? or where their friends live. It doesn't change your feeling for a friend.

First of all, I must apologize for calling you stupid, but it is human nature to attack those who attack you. You called me stupid, so I called you stupid back. We both are children because we didn't act like mature adults. If you expect in life to lash out and expect people to back down from you verbal attacks, I'm sorry to inform you that most people won't put up with rudeness, they will act rude back. I thought about and reread all the conversations between us and came to a conclusion that when I was younger, I would probably have had the same views as you but the difference between you and I now is that I have matured and have seen both sides of Philippine culture. If you read my last posting and skip across the insults, you might come to understand why Filipinos act the way they do. For you to understand my way of thinking, look at a situation that you probably see all the time. Do you know a student in college in the Philippines that you used to be friends with then their situations changed and your friend changed with the situation. A lot of students who's parents work overseas or live in different town other than the students' town, without adult supervision, these nice college students become drug addicts, don't study, or seem to disrespect others around them. They have no one to shame them and yell at them to keep them on the correct path. This is one reason why we have churches, to make even the adults act with a conscience. No offense, I myself acted the same way until I realized what I was doing. I'm not better than anyone else but I'm more mature than most of the people. Some people never realized what they're doing and the way they're acting is immature and irresponsible. In my life, I've met 60 year-old children and 12-year old adults. I've met ignorant people with Master's degrees and wise people who can't read. I consider myself more wise than intelligent, basically I don't believe you can understand my point of view until you have witnessed and contemplated the same situations I've seen. Most people never take the time to look at the situation and understand it. Most people think the first impression of a person is what a person is truly like. Things aren't always as they seem. A sample news story, you find out a wife has killed her husband with a knife, you hear stories that the wife was cheating on her husband and assume the woman is an evil person and deserves to go to prison. Later, you find out the woman is a good mother never cheated on her husband and you find out the man beat her and his children often, drink and did drugs and the woman killed her husband finding out he was molesting her children. So, your fist view of the woman and the man was that the man was a saint and the woman was evil. Your second view shows the woman as the victim and the man deserved to die. Life is usually not what you first see and hear. Its putting together the facts and coming up with a totally different conclusion. To believe and accept that a group of people are exact copies of each other in their parts, seems pretty unintelligent to believe. I have a lot of sisters and believe it or not, we all act totally differently than each other. I assume you are not an exact copy of every woman in your town either. I'm sure you've met good women and bad women in your town. If all people are exactly the same in your opinion, I assume, you would marry the first guy who ask you because it wouldn't matter which guy who you married because all men are exactly alike. I assume you don't agree with that. All men are NOT ALIKE. I also assume you would agree that all women are not exactly alike, therefore you can't accept the first posting as being true because its stated Philippine women were exact copies of each other and all Philippine women are saints. I would enjoy talking to you more. My name is Fleur Ionne, hope to hear from you soon.

Nice Fleur, I think you make great points. Argumentative...but great points. Generalizations are the root of most racism and hate in the world today. Being specific is always sound logic. In this case I dont think the gneralizations were hurtful so its a 50/50 proposition. Either way your comments were truthful and showed concise thinking.

Some misunderstandings turn into a fight. We all are misunderstood in this world. Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to defend myself and presenting my point of view even if no one understands what I was trying to do. The simplest way if someone would spend their time reading my comments, they would understand that life is not simple. I wish all people would try hard to be honest with themselves and more honest with people around them. What I worry about is people are destroying their chances of happiness. Going into in any type of relationship, only expecting the good things to come of it and not understanding that with all good comes some bad. Most people hurt each other because of unreal expectations and not having the guts to admit to themselves and say I'm not perfect either. Hope everyone finds what they are looking and hope no one hurts each other.

I'm aware that this is a Filipino group in an American site which welcomes discussion between all nationalities and races. Unfortunately, the world does not speak only one language. Most Americans speak only one language, and if they speak 2, usually the second is Spanish, so its not appropriate and polite to speak in languages that not all people on the group can understand. It would be nice if the world spoke Tagalog but unfortunately they do not teach it in most countries. If this was a Chinese group, you would be angry because they were not posting comments in a language you could understand. I doubt you would be complaining and congratulating each other about why these unfortunate Chinese could not converse with you in Tagalog. I have Chinese friends and European friends and Indian friends and American friends and German friends, who do not speak Tagalog, so we choose to talk all in a common language that we all understand, this being English. I can't talk to my friends in China in Mandarin because it would take me years to learn. They cannot speak to me in Tagalog because it would take them years to learn. So I don't really understand why all of you are irritated with the world and me because people are speaking English here because it is our common language. There are over 50 different languages in the Philippines. I assume people speak Tagalog because its a common language in the Philippines. It was very close that Cebuano was to be the national language, Tagalog barely won. Are you mad if the lady next to you speaks Cebuano and not Tagalog? Is she less of a Filipino than you are? If you do not wish other languages to be used on this group, you should not invite anyone other than Tagalog speaking people here. Also you should not be offended if someone else on the group had a forum for only native speaking Americans to be invited to post comments about a topic. I'm sure, you would be offended if someone posted a forum saying "Tagalog speaking people are not allowed here." My guess is that you would be very angry for this racist person to post a comment like that. So therefore by the same logic, if you expect people to speak only Tagalog here, doesn't that make you a narrow-minded racist yourself?

You make some valid arguments in your posting, a person should be comfortable with who they are and have good self-esteem and not be easily manipulated by other people's compliments. Usually, compliments are a way to manipulate a person into doing something. Too often, women let themselves manipulated by others who play them with flattery. As far as your other point, it is very important never to forget who you are and where you came from. Personally, I didn't grow up rich. I've known hunger. I've been in situations that I would not wish up on my worst enemy. I understand and agree with your comments but I think that you have the wrong impression of me and do not fully understand what I am trying to say. Maybe my thoughts aren't translated well. I have not seen very many Filipinas that have not adapted well from the first day. That is not to say that many Filipinas aren't stronger than the people I know. To illustrate my point of view, think about who you are and what's important to you. Realistically, if you won 10 million pesos in tomorrow's lottery, would you be the same person a year from now than you are today? Would you have the same friends that you have today? Do not casually think about this, put some time into it, make a list of what you would all buy and things that you would change in your life. At first, everything will be a perfect dream, within a few months, you will hide from your relatives. You will learn to not respect people you respect now. Your best friend will hate you and you will hate her in return. Your life will never be simple and enjoyable from that point forward. Situations change in life and this causes the people in those situations to change also. I've been through this and understand why people act as they do. I have very little hate in my heart but have learned how people mind's work. It takes age to gain wisdom, it takes many mistakes to learn that you are imperfect. Lessons can only be learned if you take time to understand your own screw-ups. When you understand yourself, understanding other people becomes easy.

Beauty is the soul of a person, its not what you see when you look in the mirror. Beauty is not pretty. Beauty is a soul that is scarred, beaten, but not broken by everything in life that has tried to break them. Beauty is what's left when a face is no longer pretty and a body is no longer pleasing to the eye. A person that has learned how to deal with all of life's problems and still smile is what we strive for. I try to overcome my own vanity because vanity is a curse just like wealth is a curse. Most ugly people have the truest love. A blind person can't base their relationship on looks. A blind person can't be manipulated by what he sees. I don't like to accept compliments because it has nothing to do with a persons soul. I choose friends based on their soul(beauty) and not on their physical appearance. A pretty face tells me nothing about the person on the inside, only that they take nice photos.

You can't see a person's heart but you can listen for it.

wow, it seems that you do know a lot about us. and i appreciate men who know the value of filipino women. for me, most of it are true but some aren't. filipino women are versatile. we have such a strong character yet we are also gentle and feminine. history reveals a lot about filipino women. we have undergone oppression and have been ruled by spain, japan and the US. so i think, as a nation, we are influenced on how we deal with others. i am proud to be a filipina. :) and if guys out there would want to knw us better? then i think, it will be worth it. just try to dig down deeper and look beyond the physical. :) and later on, you'll see that you have found a treasure.
