About Me: | She looked across the room at his smiling lips, his soft eyes, and his perfectly messy hair. God, how she wanted to kiss those lips, stare into those eyes, and run her fingers through that hair. She loved him so much, but nobody knew. At least, they didn't know that they were right. All of her friends joked and teased that they liked each other; that they were the perfect couple. They really thought that she liked him, but she denied it. She wasn't embarrassed; she was afraid. Afraid that opening up her heart to him would just lead to more pain. She knew who his crush was, and it wasn't her. She didn't know for sure if he really liked the other girl, and probably never would. She didn't even know why she liked him in the first place. All she knew was that she liked him, but no, she didn't like him; she loved him. Months passed, and she tried to forget him, but that was an impossibility. All she could do was to tell her brain that she didn't love him anymore. Her brain believed her, but her heart couldn't. Her heart listened to love, not logic. Her brain tried to forget, but her heart held on. Finally, that great day came. That day, her daydreams became reality. He turned around in his chair and uttered those wonderful words: "Will you go out with me?" Her heart burst out with joy and excitement. Her brain acted differently. It had believed what she had said, and as she looked at him on that day, she made the biggest mistake of her life. Finally staring into those eyes, she opened her mouth: "No." Inside, her heart exploded with pain and disbelief. The tears poured throughout her body like a raging river, and her heart ached. As he turned back around, she looked back to the screen at the front of the room, and a lone tear glistened as it slid down her cheek. She learned an important lesson that day: hold on to love, because all you’ll ever really know is how you feel, and you must feel that way for a reason. Never Let It Go |
